[ The device seems to click on by accident, having fallen out of her bag, as you get a sideways shot of a young Growlithe and a girl dressed in a white dress with pink fringe. She seems to be…gesturing to it and speaking encouragingly? ]

…Go on~ Go find your owner! Can you manage that? [ The Pokémon just gives her a confused whine, to which she responds by placing her hands on her hips. ]

What am I going to do with you….oh! [ She finally notices the discarded PokéGear and picks it up, looking at it closely—so that the image being projected only shows one eye and part of her nose—before realizing that it's a video-talky-device and holding it at a more reasonable distance. ]

Is this thing on? Hellooo? [ Short pause, before she gets too impatient to wait for a response. ] Can anyone tell me where this guy belongs…and how to get back to Balamb?

[ The feed continues for a few more minutes as she presses some buttons, before it cuts out. ]

That thing you have is called a Pokemon. Your job is-- most likely --to train it by fighting with other Pokemon and trainers in order to make it stronger. By making it stronger, you will be able to earn the badges from the Gym Leaders in each city.

And then there's a short pause wherein she looks closely at the Pokémon. ] What can they do?

It depends on their species and type. I think yours is a fire type, so it should have fire-based attacks and abilities. I'm not very familiar with those, so I could be wrong, but in any case you'll probably find out.
