[ Rinoa, bright-eyed, is sitting in her hotel room. There's a Growlithe curled up on her lap, relaxed, and an egg in the background. ]

Guess what? [ She waits a second or two—presumably for guessing--before continuing. ]

I got a job! I've been working at the PokeCenter for a day or two now, helping out with the patients.

It's not bad, and I want to save up some money, just in case!

[ She smiles at the camera, and then looks over her shoulder casually at the egg. ]

I've also got a new member of my team on the way! I'm going to name him Watts, when he comes—

[ As if on cue, the egg starts shaking and cracking slightly. She gasps and picks up the 'Gear, spinning it around so that the hatching egg is in focus. And then— ]

Char!

Aww, look at you, little guy! I think Watts is the perfect name for you~

Char Charmander! [ ...If you can understand Pokemon? The newly-Christened Watts is trying to explain that she's a girl, kthx. Rinoa just thinks "he's" saying hi. ]

Well, I met Watts when I joined the Forest Owls, a rebel group in Timber dedicated to freeing our town from the tyranny of Deling and Galbadia! [ Yeah, that passion runs deep, man. Okay, back on topic again. ]

Watts was our information-getter. He's incredibly polite and kind, and he was really devoted to our cause. Along with Zone, he was one of my closest friends in Timber.

Let me know when you get here, and I'll come find you!

[Yes! He's totes nodding. And at that point, Riku's going to step in.]

Sometimes it's hard to tell what gender they are; it's why the Pokédex comes in handy.

He sounds like a dependable friend. Did your group reach its goal?

[ She nods. ] I'll do that.

He really is! [ Can you feel the love/admiration? ] Well, not yet...but we're getting there! We've come so far that we can't give up now!

I wish you luck. Fighting a corrupt and ill-intentioned ruler is far from easy.

[ Quistis laughs. ] A Selphie and a Zell and an Irvine?

[ Tempest hops down and peers closely at Watts. Well, she's definitely a girl. After some thought, he punches her. Just a little. ]

Yeah! I mean, I was saving the name for a Dragonite, but... they're, like, really rare.

It's worth it, though. [ Beaming. ]

...How about your Pokémon? I can guess who Leviathan's named after [ after all, it's kind of hard to forget a GF like that ], but what about the others?

I didn't realize it could do that!

A Dragonite?

If it fits, why not?

[ ...Watts has not been having the best of days, what with being mistaken for a boy and being misunderstood by her trainer. So punching her? Not the best idea.

In retaliation, she opens up her mouth and breathes fire in his direction. Just a little. ]

[ Quistis falls back in surprise, and Tempest scrambles around behind her, thoroughly alarmed. That wasn't supposed to happen.

Once Quistis recovers from her brief shock, she returns Tempest to his ball with a sigh and an apology. ]

Sorry. He's not usually antagonistic.

Rosie was named after my wife; Lydia, Kayne and Firion were named after friends; Esuna and Flare, after spells; Avenger after a sword, and Leila was named by her previous trainer.

[ For a minute, Watts looks completely satisfied with herself...that is, until her trainer starts scolding her. ]

Watts! You can't just...do that! Bad!

[ Turning back to Quistis, Rinoa shakes her head. ] Watts shouldn't have responded like that, either.

Well, now you know. Besides, I can't blame you for thinking she was a male Charmander. They don't exactly scream feminine.

They evolve from Dratini -- and are as powerful as some Legendaries! And some people start with their first evolution, Dratini!!

You have a wife? [ Yeah, she was caught by this—it's not that surprising, though, once she thinks about it. ]

Sounds like you've got a big team there!

A wife, and a son about your age, too. But they've not yet appeared in Johto.

That took some time. I only had four before Christmas, but my team doubled in size over the last month and a half.

We'll have to watch them in the future, I guess. [ She laughs a little. ]

Woah. [ That sounds impressive. Even though she doesn't know what Legendaries are. ] But if some people have them, can't you ask to buy one of their eggs?

I've been keeping a look out... they're, like, super-rare, egg-wise.
